The promotion of Caldecote village history

Caldecote Local History Group has received a grant of nearly £10,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an exciting project that will promote the history of Caldecote village.

The project will use sources, such as old photographs and oral testimonies, to create an archive that will tell the story of how this small village developed through history.

The Caldecote Local History Group will work with the Caldecote Primary School to get children involved in the project. Additionally, there are plenty of opportunities for the local community to get involved, with volunteer tasks covering the preparation and writing of the learning pack, recording oral memories, preparing old cine films and documents for DVD copying, collating the new archive and giving talks to local groups.

Explaining the importance of the HLF support, Robyn Llewellyn, Head of the HLF East of England said: “We are pleased to support this project. With the influx of new residents over the last decade, there are potentially many people living in Caldecote with little knowledge of the local village heritage on their doorstep. Lottery money will help the History Group to change that.”

You will be able to keep up with progress of the project here on our blog.
